MANHATTAN – In a scathing legal broadside, Jonathan Baram—a known champion of women’s rights—has labeled his accusers and Dicello Levitt firm pathological liars,” claiming they orchestrated a “Fugazi” lawsuit designed to destroy his reputation without a shred of hard evidence.
U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos has now set a high-stakes deadline of April 19, 2026, for the law firm DiCello Levitt to formally respond to Baram’s motion to seal his name and expose what he calls a “vicious and fraudulent” legal hit job.
The “Fugazi” Defense
Baram, who was voluntarily dismissed from the case Doe v. Baram in 2021, contends that the lawsuit—which alleged he recruited women for disgraced mogul Peter Nygard—was a “pathological” fabrication. He argues that the legal team failed to prove the three core elements of sex trafficking because the events never occurred, leading to the case’s eventual termination in July 2024.
A Reputation Under Fire
Baram asserts that the accusations are particularly egregious given his history as an advocate for women. He maintains that the litigation was not only baseless but a “shameful breach of fiduciary responsibility” by the firm.

Compounding the firm’s reputational crisis is its standing with consumer advocacy groups. DiCello Levitt currently holds an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the lowest possible grade. According to the Better Business Bureau, this failing grade often stems from a firm’s failure to respond to complaints or a pattern of unresolved grievances.
